NPD 412      Pre-Production Preparation, Functional Testing, Quality / Safety and Trial Runs

Module No. 12

Module Content:

You can’t just design a product, make a prototype and then throw it into production; it just won’t work that way.  A main production run requires preparation and a good amount of it.   In this course you’ll learn about the various types of functional testing that should be performed, quality evaluations and reviews,  safety concerns which could develop along with the set up and running of TRIAL PRODUCTION RUNS (to test the assembly and fabrication of your product).  We’ll learn to find the problems in the small trail production run vs finding the issues in the mass production, when it could be too late.

Examples of the Module topics:

·         Preparing for production

·         Establishing testing procedures

·         Preparing testing equipment

·         Developing testing tooling, fixtures and jigs

·         c. Quality and safety review and establishing testing to assure compliance

·         Developing the acceptable quality range

·         Creating, reviewing and establishing the assembly process, each step

·         Determining the necessary assembly tools, templates, dies and fixtures

·         Performing a mini trial run and evaluation

·         Performing the final trial run and evaluation

What you’ll gain from this Module:

At the conclusion of this course, students will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to work side by

side with the manufacturing team (offering input and direction) to assure a successful production

      start-up.
